In 2015, my wife and I started to look for a vacation home that we could enjoy with our children through all four seasons. Since I had spend most of my early years skiing and enjoying winter sports, we wanted a place near a ski resort for year round entertainment, and near lakes for great summers. We looked at several places in Colorado, Utah, B.C., but the memories of my youth brought me back to the Laurentians. We looked at multiple properties, but this particular log home situated on a small lake caught our attention. We actually made an offer on it prior to seeing it in person. Sounds like a crazy “Leap of Faith” decision and…. IT WAS! We visited Chalet Cherokee, for the first time, approximately 2 weeks after our offer was accepted. We arrived onsite and fell in love immediately!
The chalet was beautifully designed and decorated, but it had been neglected by the previous owner and needed a lot of love. We began to restore the logs, stained, and caulked them for better insulation. We added to and changed the decor to make it look more like a traditional North American log home. Finally, we proceeded to brand Chalet Cherokee and make it available for everyone to enjoy through short term rentals.
Both Alessandra and I had already started successful businesses in Florida, but the short term rental business just hit home. Using our background in customer service related sales, we applied our forty plus years of experience and decided to start a third business based on short term rentals. In 2019, we were selected by Airbnb to join their Plus selected homes. In 2021, we expanded on the success of Chalet Cherokee and purchased Chalet El Dorado in the beautiful town of La Minerve, Quebec.
